BRYAN’S BIDDING TIPS
1. READ THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Not all auction sites are created equal and each site has different rules. We know terms and conditions can be long, but it really is important to read them carefully to ensure you know what you’re committing to when you place a bid.
2. USE THE PREVIEW TIME WHEN OFFERED
Bryan’s offers the opportunity to inspect items in person before the auction ends. It is extremely important for you to take advantage of this time. We usually provide 2 or more days when you can inspect the item(s) that you are interested in. Remember, you are buying an item “AS IS” and it is ultimately up to you todetermine the value of an asset, so use every resource possible to do your research.
3. DO YOUR HOMEWORK
Make sure that you do research on the item(s) you would like to bid on. Check the measurements on the doors; the upper cabinet height in your kitchen; will the item fit through the door, etc.
4. CONTACT A BRYAN’S REPRESENTATIVE WITH QUESTIONS
If you have questions about an item or even how the auction works, we have helpful staff to assist you. We can be your eyes to help with the inspection of an item.
5. KNOW YOUR FINANCIAL LIMITS
If you can’t afford it, don’t bid on it. Recognize your budget and stick to it. Use the “up to” bidding feature with NEXTLOT to ensure you do not get caught in emotional bidding and overspend. Remember, once you commit your bid, it’s yours and you’re paying for it.
6. ASK YOUR SIGNIFICANT OTHER FIRST!
Bryan’s has lost count of the number of times something like this has happened – guy bids on and wins a skid of hardwood, brings it home and the purchase is quickly nixed by his wife. If you are making a major purchase, be sure to include your significant other in the process. You will lose money trying to resell the item when you consider the taxes and buyer’s premium that you paid.
7. DON’T ASSUME SHIPPING IS AVAILABLE OR INCLUDED
At Bryan’s we often see buyers from a long distance away buy low cost items. If you live in North Bay you are not going to drive to Bryan’s to pick-up a $50.00 item. While we can help you organize shipping it is often expensive relative to the initial cost of the item. Keep this in mind when bidding.
8. HAVE A REMOVAL PLAN
When you purchase your set of 29 kitchen cabinets at Bryan’s be sure to understand what equipment you will need to remove the cabinets ( U-Haul, blankets, dollies, etc.) Remember that Bryan’s goal is to move merchandise and not become a storage facility. We provide about 3 days for your load-out. You will need to be organized in order to remove your items in a timely fashion. You will save a lot of chaos, confusion and headaches if you have a plan in place BEFORE you bid on an item.
Any auction company, including Bryan’s, builds its reputation on selling good quality items at terrific prices. To do this, we do not offer any kind of warranty or return policy. You are buying items “as is” which simply means that what you see is what you are getting. Don’t expect the auction company to agree to take back an item because it didn’t fit; the colour was wrong; you wanted a diesel and this is a gas engine; or you simply changed your mind. It is your responsibility to ensure the item meets your needs.
10. ENJOY THE EXPERIENCE – WITHIN REASON!
Many people believe that they are completely anonymous online and that their actions won’t be tracked back to them. Bryan’s takes your bidding very seriously. If you bid you are expected to stand behind your actions and what you’ve bid on. It is unacceptable to simply try to “walk away” from your commitment. Bryan’s will take action when all else fails.
